Mussolini’s archaeologist History Civilization

Code: 016849

In the early 1920's, Italy's newly established Fascist regime hopes to transform the Mediterranean Sea into its Mare Nostrum. Young archaeologist Luigi Maria Ugolini, sent to Albania to oversee the Italian Archaeological Mission, unwittingly finds himself involved in the treacherous "Balkans Game". For some, Ugolini, who brought to light Butrinto, the "Pompeii of Albania", stands as one of the fathers of modern archaeology, while others consider him merely a pawn of Mussolini.
