Though he has lost his father, David Copperfield has a pleasant enough childhood, until his mother dies as well. Forced by his cynical stepfather to work in a bottling shop owned by the man, he eventually makes his way to Dover, where a relative takes him in. He returns to London to become a lawyer, meeting both Agnese and the firm’s unsettling assistant, Uriah Heep. After a series of reversals, misunderstandings and acts of deceit, David finally finds happiness alongside Agnese, who has stood by him through every difficulty.
